Companies rely on information professionals for research skills that dig much deeper and wider than the Internet notes the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Combined with strong organizational skills and their knowledge of computer databases, librarians can review needs. Special librarians work for a wide variety of organizations, including financial services, environmental and life sciences companies, law firms, hospitals, retail corporations, engineering and architecture firms, government and the non-profit sector. Members of the Minnesota Chapter of SLA work for 3M, Cargill, Ecolab, Fredrickson & Byron, General Mills, Guidant, Medtronic, Northwest Area Foundation, Regions Hospital, Star Tribune, Target Corporation and Thomson West to name a few.
