The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS), Community Partnerships Division is pleased to announce the 2007 Minnesota Family, Friend and Neighbor (FFN) Grant Program competition for $750,000 The FFN grant program passed by the 2007 legislature (Laws 2007, Chapter 147, Article 2, Section 58) has four purposes: to promote children's healthy development, early literacy and school readiness and to foster community partnerships in carrying out these goals.
Eligible recipients, under the legislative language, are community-based organizations, non-profits, Indian tribes, and local and regional library systems. The legislation promotes community partnerships as a means of strengthening/creating strategic alliances that will result in more resources available to assist FFN providers in their work with children and families. Partnerships are needed both within and outside the traditional early childhood arenas to effectively reach FFN caregiver. DHS will support partnerships that promote programming that is diverse in approach, and comprehensive in design and delivery.
The term of any resulting contract is anticipated to be for approximately 20 months from November 2007 until June 30, 2009. DHS anticipates awarding approximately six to ten grants of varying sizes ranging up to a maximum of $150,000 per grant. DHS will attempt to award grants throughout the state. Proposals must be physically received by 4:00 p.m. Central Time on September 28, 2007.
