Austin Public Library recruiting AmeriCorps volunteers

Austin Public Library is hosting an Americorps volunteer this year, starting as soon as late August or September (open until filled.)

This is a perfect opportunity for a new library grad to put something fascinating on your resume!

Below is the program job description. Austin’s position will also involve creating a marketing plan for library story hours and piloting innovative story time sessions to explore the best ways to increase story time attendance and participation at the library.

Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation seeks dedicated and committed individuals interested in community service and leadership development. Full and half time positions available. Described as the “domestic Peace Corps”, AmeriCorps READS Initiative members will provide direct service support to regional Early Childhood Coalitions and schools in Pre-K-K literacy support, parent education, volunteer recruitment and community service project planning. $990 monthly living allowance, health and child care benefit and a $4,725 education award upon completion of service term. Minimum qualifications include at least two years post high school education, college degree preferred for some positions.
