*Library & Nursing Learning Lab, Presentation College, SD, 1977-79

My undergraduate degree is in Business Administration and I worked in the world of corporate accounting before getting my graduate library degree.

Statement of Concern/Vision:
The Minnesota Library Association fulfills many needs for those of us who work in and govern our libraries. MLA is a clearinghouse for information that affects both our work and our lives; a place for us to express our ideas and our opinions about Minnesota's libraries; a source of professional development and a strong advocate at the state level for all libraries in Minnesota.

To continue to serve the membership in these many roles, MLA needs to build a strong financial base. As Treasurer, it would be my privilege to use my business and library skills to help MLA achieve this goal.

Ann Hokanson

Background:
Professional public librarian since 1991

Director of Austin Public Library since 2003

Graduate of the Blandin community leadership course

Experience board member, currently serving as MLA treasurer as well as on the boards of 3
Austin-based organizations

Statement of Concern/Vision:

I want MLA to be a vibrant professional development organization that directly meets the needs of Minnesota librarians, library advocates and libraries. I am very excited about adapting new technology methods that encourage communication between members, so that MLA can be a main forum that sparks innovation, and allows members to share and learn from their experiences. I am committed to bringing the best educational opportunities to our members through dynamic conferences and workshops. I think MLA can facilitate cooperation between libraries and can be a voice for librarians.
