Conference: Astrid Lindgren, Creator of Pippi Longstocking

The University of Minnesota Libraries present A Woman for All Seasons: Astrid Lindgren at 100 a conference celebrating the beloved author of the Pippi Longstocking stories and many other books.

10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.: Scholarly presentations on Lindgren’s work and its cultural implications, featuring Eva-Maria Metcalf (U of Mississippi), Ulla Lundqvist (Sweden), Karen Coats (Illinois State U), and Ulf Boëthius (Stockholm U).

3:00 – 6:00 p.m.: Presentations on Lindgren’s work and artistic interpretations of Pippi Longstocking, featuring Lena Norrman (University of Minnesota), Karen Nelson Hoyle (University of Minnesota), Elissa Adams and Jessie Shelton (Children’s Theatre Company), Tiina Nunnally (Albuquerque, NM) and Susan Marie Swanson (St. Paul, MN).

6:00 – 7:00 p.m.: Reception and exhibit. Tiina Nunnally will sign copies of Pippi Longstocking (book sales courtesy of Red Balloon Bookshop.)
