This year’s one-day Family Literacy Workshop will provide opportunities to
- share and learn from other practitioners,
- learn how to develop an integrated instructional unit,
- receive all the integrated units created during the workshop as well as other helpful materials, and
- celebrate the uniqueness and value of family literacy.
Featured Speakers:
MARILYN BOX is a faculty member of the Penn State University’s William Goodling Institute for Research in Family Literacy and a certified trainer for the National Center for Family Literacy. Ms Box has 30 years of experience working in public schools as a teacher, curriculum specialist and program administrator. She has worked as the coordinator of the family literacy program in Mesa, Arizona, serves as a local evaluator for several Even Start programs, and provides training and technical assistance across the country.
GRETCHEN WRONKA is the Youth Services and Outreach Coordinator for Hennepin County Library, supervising the Outreach Department and the Children’s Readmobile. She has been a leader in state and national library associations and is currently a member of the Governor’s Council on Reading Excellence and the Advisory Council to the University of Minnesota’s Center for Early Education and Development. A past member of the Minnesota Family Literacy Consortium and the Minnesota Family Literacy Conference planning committee, Gretchen continues to be a strong advocate for family literacy.
