Call for MLA Conference Presentations

The Minnesota Library Association (MLA) is seeking presentations for its 2008 Conference, November 19-21, 2008 in Bloomington, Minnesota at the Sheraton Bloomington.

MLA’s annual conference is one of the best opportunities for library professionals and advocates to network with each other. To guide your presentation preparation,
the theme for the 2008 Conference is "To Explore, To Evolve, To Excel…Together.”

If you are interested in presenting or have a presentation you wish to see at the conference, please complete a session proposal form and return it to hhoks@carverlib.org by April 11, 2008.

Conference Update

Registration:

Good News!! There is a mistake on the registration page of the conference program. The registration costs that are in the column saying they are good until September 8th are really good until October 10th.

After October 10th, please register on-site.

The one-day conference rate for Friday is $65.

Confirmations:

We are sending out confirmations for your registrations, but we are slower than in previous years because of our lack of current staffing. Please be patient with us.

Hotels:

There are still openings at both hotels.

The Holiday Inn's phone number is 507-345-1234.

When making reservations at the Hilton, please call 507-625-4715 and let them know you are with the MLA group. (The phone number was answered by Coldwell Banker, but just ask for reservations for the Hilton.)

Booking rooms for the Annual Conference: UPDATE

There has been some confusion about Hilton reservations. The Hilton has reserved a block of rooms for MLA as a group and considers all reservations by individuals a part of that group. When making reservations at the Hilton, please call 507-625-4715 and let them know you are with the MLA group. All non-MLA rooms are booked at both the Hilton and Holiday Inn. The block goes off on September 24, so those rooms not previously reserved by you will be up for grabs at that point to the general public.

The Holiday Inn and the Hilton still are retaining our block of rooms and there is plenty of space within the block. When people call in, they need to say they are with the MLA conference and want to reserve a room in that block. The block of rooms will remain in held until September 24.
